Lantus Insulin Savings Card
According to Sanofi’s website, if you have commercial health insurance, you can receive a $0 copay whether or not your prescription is covered. If you DO NOT have insurance, the savings card can lower the price so you pay $99 for a 10ml vial or $149* for a pack of 5 pens with the Insulins Valyou Savings Program.
Humalog Insulin Savings Card
A Humalog insulin savings card does exist! Humalog is a short acting insulin that is taken by type 1 and 2 diabetics in insulin pumps and to cover high blood sugars or at meal times. The only savings card I was able to find for Humalog was for U-200 Humalog.
Metformin for Type 1 Diabetes
Metformin is typically prescribed for type 2 diabetes, but I have taken it for my type 1. In general, Metformin is usually the first medication that doctors try when putting a type 2 on medication. It is typically the cheapest medication to try when starting medications as well.
